What is Christian Science Healing?
How does it work?
Christian Science healing is simple and natural. Its approach is entirely spiritual and is considered to be the same healing method taught and practiced by Christ Jesus. Christian Science treatment includes silent prayer applied to your thoughts and self-image. Treatment includes eliminating fears and self-defeating thought patterns, and then replacing them with true, healthy, God-like thoughts and actions. A change in your thought results in a change in your body and your experience (see Recent Healings).
It is not necessary for you to be physically present to experience healing. Although patients live in different parts of the world, the treatment is effective. I am available for office appointments and home visits, but many people use phone and email contact. Skype is another good way to work together, especially for those from out of the country.
Do I need to be a Christian Scientist to be healed?
You do not need to be a Christian Scientist to be healed. In fact, a good many of my patients are not Christian Scientists, and they have benefited greatly. Nor do you need to become a Christian Scientist to be healed, anymore than a dental patient needs to become a dentist.
Honesty, receptivity, and a genuine desire to be healed are helpful qualities. A copy of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health are also helpful.
Do I need to believe in God?
Most people have their own intuitive sense of God. As you go along, you can expect your relationship with God to grow and feel warm and alive and intimate.
The words used to describe God in the Christian Science textbook are: God: the great I am; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence.
What role do I play in a healing?
A typical patient contacts me by phone, by email or by Skype [call me]. I am also available for office appointments or home visits when appropriate. During our initial conversation we discuss your needs and questions. We then explore some inspirational ideas and spiritual goals to focus on. If you choose, you ask for treatment. And then, after completing our conversation, I begin prayer treatment. You call back with progress reports and request further treatment, if needed. During treatment you participate by focusing on your spiritual goals and by staying receptive. You determine how often and how long treatment is given.
How long does a healing take?
My goal is immediate and permanent healing. Each treatment is given with that goal in mind. In a chronic case, I will reduce my fees.
What kinds of conditions does Christian Science treatment heal?
Prayer heals a full range of conditions, both physical and emotional. Christian Science practice has a 140 year record of healings including cases given up as hopeless by the mainstream medical profession.
I have personally participated in the cures of pneumonia, diabetes, cancer, heart conditions, broken bones, ruptured spleen, gun shot wound, internal infections, high blood pressure, gallstones, warts, fevers, headaches, accidental chemical poisoning, seasickness, altitude sickness, menopause malaise, chronic panic attacks, depression, grief, and loneliness.
I have also used prayer to find employment, develop careers, and solve financial needs. My treatments have helped marriages, parenting struggles, broken friendships, and other relationships in crisis. In addition, I have prayerfully assisted adoptions and natural births.

What about medication? I heard that Christian Scientists avoid medication and doctors?
True. Christian Science treatment does not include medication. It focuses on a change of thought and therefore a change in your body and your experience. Christian Science has a documented record of cures without the use of medication. However, if you are currently under medical care, that shouldn’t stop you from finding out how spiritual healing works.
Over a lifetime, my own personal healthcare has been medication free. Except for dental and optometrist help, I have successfully relied on spiritual healthcare for myself and in the raising of my two children. I have chosen not to use medication or prescriptions, nor have I needed to consult with a physician or spend time in hospitals or emergency clinics. I continue to be healthy to this day.
What about emergencies? Do you take emergency cases?
Christian Science treatment is effective in emergencies. You may call at any time with an emergency and request immediate treatment. If you are not able to talk, a friend or relative could call for help on your behalf. If appropriate, I can come and visit you.
What about children? Can prayer heal children?
Yes. Christ Jesus frequently healed children. I love to work with children. Their thought is intuitive and flexible. They jump right up. Children are naturally healthy and courageous. In cases involving children, mainly the fears of the parents need to be addressed.
What do you charge for your services?
Unlike many churches who pay their pastors, the Christian Science church does not pay its practitioners. My healing work is a private practice, like a therapist or a physician. My fees are:
| Initial consultation | no charge |
| Consultation and treatment | $45.00 |
| Home visit and treatment | $60.00 |
Fee and payment adjustments are available when needed.
